Supporters rally for Texas teenager facing life sentence for pot brownies

Nineteen-year-old Round Rock resident Jacob Lavoro is facing a sentence of life imprisonment after police authorities arrested him for possession of a 1.5-pound pan of pot brownies, The Daily Chronic reported on June 20.

Lavoro, who turned down a plea agreement to have his first-degree felony reduced to a second-degree felony charge at the Williamson County Courthouse on June 19, was supported by a rally held outside the courthouse in Georgetown. Police authorities said that aside from hash oil and marijuana buds, Lavoro also possessed baggies filled with marijuana and digital scales.

Lavoro’s defense attorney, Jack Holmes, filed a petition to suppress evidence in the case because the police entered Lavoro’s apartment illegally and without a search warrant.
