Pistorius murder trial continues in Pretoria

Evidence against Olympic runner, Oscar Pistorius, has developed during the first week of his trial. Pistorius has been charged with premeditated murder for shooting and killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, 29.

A neighbor told the Pretoria court that she heard “blood-curdling screams” coming from Pistorius’s house the night that Steenkamp was found dead. Two others corroborated her testimony in the trial.

Pistorius, who admitted to having shot Steenkamp through his bathroom door with a 9-millimeter pistol, said it was a case of mistaken identity and said he thought he was shooting at a dangerous intruder. The bullets from the gun punctured Steenkamp’s head, arm, and hip area, eventually killing her.
