Mesquite man held for fatal DWI in uptown Dallas

Twenty-three-year-old Mesquite, Texas resident has been taken into custody by members of the Dallas Police Department and was charged with intoxication manslaughter on Wednesday, February 1, according to cbslocal.com

According to preliminary police investigations, Travis Elwell had been driving at a high speed on McKinney Ave. February 10 at around 5:30 p.m. when he crashed into a parked vehicle which 34-year-old Emily Javadi was standing alongside. Javadi was rushed to Parkland Hospital, but she eventually succumbed to her injuries.

One local group has said they were in the midst of an investigation regarding the traffic pattens and proclivity to speed in that area of town in the weeks before the accident occurred.
